about

La comptine is the fourth movement of the piece Échos which will be available on January 20th, 2023. The piece was written for string quintet and piano and was composed by Philippe Paquet in the summer of 2021.

Échos is a piece about some of the composer’s childhood memories. Each movement represent precise souvenirs, feelings, and impressions from the youth of the artist.

With his fast tempo, its light spirit, and its playful nature, La comptine represents the games, the universes we invent for ourselves and the great adventure we imagine as children. A cardboard box becomes a fortress, a branch becomes a magic wand; it’s this innocence that the movement represents.
